Cardwave® Services Ltd in Devizes is delighted to announce that it has recently donated proceeds from the sale of their old office furniture to three local charities; Devizes Opportunity Centre, Julia’s House and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Over the summer, the Cardwave office on Hopton received a facelift with a fresh lick of paint and fab new furniture.
Instead of simply recycling their old/unwanted furniture the company tasked their Marketing Assistant, Kirsty Hinton, with finding new homes for as many items as possible whilst hopefully raising some money for charity too.
Kirsty went to work listing items on various local Facebook for sale sites and over the course of a few weeks successfully re-homed…
15 trestle tables
3 glass display cabinets
2 computer tables
and 1 VERY LARGE yukka plant!
With further items being donated to Bishops Cannings Primary School, and of course members of the Cardwave team.
Many items were offered ‘free to a good home’ but the sale of others successfully raised £275 to be donated to a local charity.
The task (and honour) of deciding which charity should benefit from the proceeds was given to Kirsty, given her involvement in selling/re-homing the furniture.
After much procrastination, and with so many fantastic local charities to choose from, Kirsty chose to share the money between:
Whilst most people locally will be familiar with Julia’s House and Wiltshire Air Ambulance, they may not be aware of the Devizes Opportunity Centre and the amazing work they do in supporting children with special needs, and their families.
‘I’ve been privileged to not only discover, but also witness first-hand what Devizes Opportunity Centre offers local families, thanks to my gorgeous buddy Toby (and my good friend Claire, Toby’s mum)’, explained Kirsty.
‘Toby has Downs Syndrome and attends weekly sessions at the Opportunity Centre where he enjoys a range of activities/interactions all designed to aid his development, and his family receive invaluable support and advice too,’ she continued. ‘Toby loves going to the Centre, as do his family, and having joined Toby and Claire for one of his weekly sessions earlier in the year I can see why. It’s just brilliant and I’m delighted that Cardwave has been able to support them through our furniture sales’.
