Two local initiatives benefit from carbon footprint offsetting programme

As an ISO 14001:2004 accredited organisation, Cardwave is committed to reducing the impact of its carbon footprint on the environment and is thrilled to be supporting two local initiatives as part of their carbon footprint offsetting programme:

Caenhill Countryside Centre

Caenhill Countryside Centre, located just outside Devizes, works with communities to bring agriculture and horticulture to children and young people by providing courses and hands on experience set on a farm.

Many of the courses offered take place on the farm but the centre also attends schools and other educational establishments to encourage a love of farming, animals and the countryside.

As a registered charity the centre relies on volunteers, funders and supporters, and Cardwave is delighted to have made a donation to the centre as part of their carbon footprint offsetting efforts, which will be used to purchase more trees for the centre’s woodland and orchard areas.

WW1 Commemorative Tree Planting Project

11th November this year marks the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War One. A war in which 10,000 British soldiers tragically lost their lives.

Wiltshire Council is commemorating those who died fighting for their country by planting 10,000 trees across the county.

In addition to donating money to this worthy project, members of the Cardwave team will be involved in the planting of trees in their home town of Devizes.

The planting of 10,000 trees will not only help reduce the rate of climate change through carbon storage, but also help reduce pollution.

Other initiatives

In addition to supporting both these initiatives, Cardwave is constantly looking at opportunities to reduce their carbon footprint and impact on the environment through their day to day operations. We are committed to reducing the amount of plastic packaging we use, in fact our SafeToGo® Solo hardware encrypted USB flash drive is now supplied in 100% sustainable packaging. We are also encouraging our customers to follow our lead and switch from plastic to cardboard packaging. Furthermore, we don’t like to see anything go to waste and therefore recycle whatever we can, and regularly donate reusable materials such as foam packaging to the Wiltshire Scrapstore.
